These durable electro-desiels could operate from third-rail power or from desiel engines. They were, and still are, a common sight around the southern region. In they 80’s, they could be seen hauling a rake of 4TC stock from Waterloo to Bournemouth. Network SouthEast also owned a number of class 73's for infrastructure work, namely: 73101/3-8/10/4/7/8/9/26/8-34/6/8-41.
The following 73/0s were transferred to NSE in 1992 for infrastructure
work:
